Cuddly Bunny Strikes Again!

Today this sweet blogger friend, put a smile on my face via the mailman and I wanted to share!  Now I normally get a good laugh when I visit CB's blog and have even had the DH come over to read along, but today she gave me a heartwarming smile instead of the usual good laugh!  If you have not visited "Not A Moment To Spare," go over and read some of here blog posts and you will know exactly why I follow this lovely blogger with such a creative flair in more ways than one!!!  Oh and check out her "Rosette" Christmas tree blog post here.  Is that not brilliant and I know we will be seeing some of these babies hanging around next year!

Thank you Tracy!  Your kindness is so appreciated!  Love the  altered tin with matching notepad and adorable Christmas card!  You rock CB!  Happy New Year to you and all of you who take the time to visit!  Can't wait for 2011!

CCC 25 - SSSS Something from Yesteryear, City Crafter's CCCB37 and Vicki's Life in Times Past.

This is my first post since before Christmas and it seems like so long ago!  We are on week 25 of the Compendium of Curiosities and Linda has us scribbling!!  Over my scribbling, I used a gears Cuttlebug embossing folder and highlighted it using a technique from the Technique Junkies.  I also added a few gear pieces.  Now since this is from a time in the past, I believe it also works quite well for Simon Says Stamp and Show's, "Yesteryear."  City Crafter has a "Stamp it Out" challenge and no digi's allowed for this one, so I am happy to play there also. Vicki's Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge is "Life in Times Past" and she is having a Unity stamp prize, so come play along!

I used three fabulous stamps from Scrolls Work.  Jules Verne, the inventor dude, I stamped and then masked and then stamped with the newsprint word stamp.  I of course distressed this a bit for a more "yesteryear" feel.  I felt something from the past was so appropriate for bringing in the new year!

Hope you are all well and happy.  I am looking forward to 2011 and wish you all a fantastic end to 2010 and beginning of 2011.

GC84 - Color Challenge

Imagine a challenge using Snow, Pine and Mahogany, then you will know that could only be the Gingers! When I first read this challenge, it took me by complete surprise as to what I was going to do! Even after I went into my craft room, I still was so clueless. I told my DH what the elements of the challenge were and he was home while I was sorting things out loud and on paper. I remembered this pine tree from Stampin Up and how I had never used it. Well there was my pine and I so loved the tree that I did not want anything else accept a snow and sky background. It killed me to not add a bunny or bird, but we wanted this to be about the pine tree. Then it was time for the Mahogany part of the challenge and so Tim Holtz texture fade came to mind and so did the Mahogany distress ink, which was shaded in a darker ink. We stamped the tree with old olive and while the ink was still wet on the stamp added the brown to the tree trunk to give it a more realistic feel. I used a deckled Spellbinders die to cut out the frame. So do you think I did OK with this one? I actually like it quite much and this is now my G-son's Christmas card! Although the DH really liked it and wondered how I come up with these things.
Just in case you missed yesterday's blog post about my incredible anniversary blog candy win from Jan at Paper Craft Pleasures, take a look!!!  Can you believe all of this??  Well as sweet as this blog candy is, the real treat is at Jan's blog.  Really go visit.
This will be my last post until after Christmas, because this person has company coming for Christmas dinner and I still have a ton of things to do. Wishing you all the best of this Holiday season and thank you for taking the time to visit!

Cherub Collage Christmas Cards

Down to the last minute!!!  I am just finishing up with Christmas cards I need to get out today!!!  365 days in a year and I am down to just a few days and I am making Christmas dinner.  We laid flooring in our dinning room this week, but we still have the moldings to pick out and paint!  That will have to wait!  A little over a couple of years ago, we started doing some things around the house and then a tragic event took place and in all honesty, my life was put on hold and so many things took a back seat!  Why am I sharing this with you during the most happiest time of the year, because many of you don't know how this blogging and sharing of art has been major therapy and comfort for me.  When difficult times hit, I found myself in my craft room doing this thing we all love and then I started blogging! You incredible people have been wonderful and I feel as if so many friendships have developed and I wanted to thank you for all you have given without even knowing.  I have learned to never take anyone for granted, so always let the people (and pets) in your life know that you care and how important they are to you and that would include you!!  Now for these cards!

This gorgeous Cherub Collage is from Scrolls Work Stamps and is so perfect for a bulk Christmas/Holiday card mailing!  In an earlier post, I made a much more detailed card using this stamp.  During this very busy time of year, we don't always have the time to make totally detailed time consuming cards, but still want a card that lets someone know you are thinking of them.  These were stamped and embossed in either gold or silver.  I did one silver and decided I liked the gold better.  The background is foil paper and you can emboss them or not. The stamped and embossed images were then cut out to the shape and the last one, I torn and then peeled back some of the paper using a technique from the Technique Junkies and edges where shaded.

However you celebrate the Holiday season, I wish you the best and the happiest!  Thank you for being you and being a part of my life!

Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful!

This weeks challenge at Gingersnap Creations GC83 is Polar Animals!  Well I was all excited, because I knew I had just the perfect Penguin stamps - NOT!  Apparently that was all in my imagination, because I looked at least three times and not a one!  Some how I did not think the GC DT would fall for a black and white owl!!  So my third project as a visiting artist is my very first attempt using graphics off the computer.  We are also entering this with the Artistic Stamper's Christmas challenge.

This adorable Penguin image is from Karen at The Graphics Fairy.  Thank you Karen!!!  I printed a second image, because I knew I would cut out the Penguin and put him on pop dots for added dimension.  I did a little icing in all the areas that the large and smaller Penguins stand and this was done with several layers of clear embossing powder and one layer of iridescent ice.  The only coloring I did on this one is the feet and beak!  The sentiment is from I Brake For Stamps.

During this especially busy time of the year, your taking the time to visit and comment is truly appreciated.  Wishing all of you the Happiest of Holidays!

Music To My Ears!

This adorable Cherub collage is from Scrolls Work Stamps! I think it works out perfectly for the Technique Junkies "clipped corners and we are entering this at the Artist Stamper Christmas challenge. This was stamped on an ivory cardstock with Stazon. I used water based markers to color the leaves, flowers, bow, horns and wings, oh and the little pinecones!! Then I added some Spica glitter and the leaves have an extra layer of metallic pencil. The little Cherubs were colored with chalk to achieve a softness. I then added the clipped and colored piece to a piece of black cardstock and trimmed to give it that pop! The red background was embossed and I thought about highlighting it, but honestly did not want to take away from the collage. I decided to use a green base to bring out the color of the leaves.

I hope you are all ready for the Holidays and enjoying your time with family and friend. There is still so much I need to do, but I decided I won't stress over what might not get done. Thank you so much for the visit and I am wishing you all the best and happiest of Holidays!

CCC#24, SSSS a Holiday Greeting, Vicki's Here Comes Santa!

CCC#24 is being hit with a Brick Wall out of the new issue of the Technique Junkies newsletter. Linda has us playing with Rock Candy Stickles and I think we are probably all loving it. It is not very easy to capture in a photo all of the subtle sparkle. I think I have mentioned before how amazing Linda is to devote so much of her time taking us on a new adventure every week! Ok, well every two weeks during the Holidays, which is just fine with me! Thanks again Linda, you rock there candy girl! Simon Says Stamp and Show wants a Holiday Greeting and that is sure easy enough! Vicki's challenge is Twas the Night Before ... & Here Comes Santa and there is a prize, so add your link for a chance to win!  We are also linking this up to the Artist Stamper for the Christmas challenge.
The Santa and snowflake images are Stampin Up. I used these free Christmas printable tickets from Miss CutiePie. Cut each one out and shaded around the edges and layered on cardstock, then cut with my new Tim Holtz Tag die. My grout lines are gold embossed. Added a few gems and goodies along the way.

Your visits and comments are always appreciated, especially this time of year when we are all so busy! Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Gingersnap Creations GC82 Supply Challenge: White Glitter

My entry as a "Visiting Artist" at Gingersnap Creations for GC82 Supply Challenge: White Glitter, is an ornament!

I painted a wood ornament using white paint on the bottom and three shades of blue on the top. This was then lightly splattered to give a snowing effect. I added several layers of white glitter to the bottom, because snow is just not flat! After that was finished, I gave a light spray of matte sealer, which did dull my white glitter a tad! Next time I will spray only the painted area!! We added stickles to the brad snowflakes and then sprinkled those with "white" glitter and added a red gem center. The little snowguy is from Scrolls Work Stamps and he was stamped on a ultra-fine white glittered piece of cardstock. After he was colored, he was cut out the top part of him is on little foam pieces for dimension.

I hope you like this ornament and will join us at Gingersnap Creations for some sparkling fun! Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for the visit!

Visiting Artist at Gingersnap Creations!

I am a little past the due date as with getting and setting up the new computer an e-mail went missing in action!  When I opened an e-mail from Ali asking me to be a "Visiting Artist" for Gingersnap Creations, I was both excited and nervous.  What an honor and I hope I live up to their expectations!  I love this group and all of the wonderful artists, so I was very happy to accept.

My first challenge piece as "visiting artist" is for the GC81 Chestnut Theme: Snowpeople!  I used alcohol foil and cuttlebug highlights from the Technique Junkies.  The embossing folder and snowman die are all Tim Holtz products.  The colors are more blue, but the snowman shows up as kind of silver.  Hope you all will join us in for the fun and a great group!

Thank you for looking and commenting!
